Quote: When I drag a gameplay video onto the editing bar in powerdirector 12 I only get 2 tracks, the gameplay video and the audio track of the gameplay not the voiceover channel that was recorded with my capture software. Is this how Cyberlink makes you buy Audio Director? CyberLink includes PowerDirector 12 as part of its full Director Suite 2 for media creation. This not only has tools for audio and video, AudioDirector 4 for audio editing and restoration and PhotoDirector 5 for photo editing, but also includes ColorDirector 2 for color grading. The only thing ever keeping me from creating YouTube videos was the barrier of entry with the software. Then I figured if these crazy kids can figure it out why can't I? PowerDirector 12 made it pretty easy to get started, and if you watch some tutorials and such online you'll have basic knowledge to apply to the program immediately.
Reply to this topicI think this is important information for anyone using an older version of PD and suggest that it be added as a permanent note at the top of this forum. Regards,

I see in your other post that right-clicking the PD12.exe file, clicking on the COMPATIBILITY tab and selecting Win 8 or 7 did not succeed. That is an interesting finding, considering that basic use of PD11 appears to work well in W10.

AntwortenIf I switch the BIOS over to use internal graphics from the i5 4590 CPU, then Intel Quick Sync hardware acceleration is usable for video encoding. It's a shame that there is no switch within PD12 (or 13) as there is in Handbrake, to use Quick Sync even when another discrete graphics card is primary.
I have tried the trial version of PD13 and the situation regarding encoding acceleration is the same, though I don't know if the latest PD13 patch addresses this. If upgrading to 13 changed this, I guess I would pay, but until this is confirmed I will sit and wait, outputing all my videos using SVRT to .mts files and then putting them through Handbrake using Quick Sync for more compressed MP4s.
AMD driver is 15.7.1 x64
PS Just checked my HP Pavilion laptop, which came with PD12 and uses Intel HD 4400 graphics and this was upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Home (x64) and PD12 works without any issues.

I just checked out someone's HP envy : http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-envy-2-in-1-15-6-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i7-12gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive-natural-silver-black/3008123.p?id=1219567192721& .The OS had been upgraded to windows 10. Took some of my own 1080/60i and 1080/60p files to test the Cyberlink PD12 in it. PD12 is fine editing 720p cell phone videos, got green preview screen with my 1080p videos until I unchecked enable hardware decoding. Edited, added transitions, and produced the 1080p60 video with and without hardware encode.
Test of 1 minute produced 1080p60 video @28Mbps below:
1 min. 19 sec. with hardware encode
2 min. 7 sec. with hardware encode unchecked.
Too bad I never checked it when it had win 8.1 but PD12 definitely works with the upgraded win 10 on this laptop.

AntwortenUnfortunately this appears to break Open CL, as neither Lightroom 6 nor DXO Optics Pro enable Open CL acceleration under that driver. The reason I chose that earlier driver version, is that Lightroom/Photoshop acceleration does not work with some later Windows 8.1 AMD drivers (as stated by Adobe), though it does now with the initial Windows 10 driver.
So, you takes your choice. Working PD12 encode acceleration, or working Open CL with other programs.
It does appear that it isn't just a basic 'video driver' issue, as once I had installed the video driver only from 14.4, I still had no encode accleration. It was only after I then installed the catalyst package from 14.4, including the transcoder package that appears in the checklist of options in the installer, that PD 12s's encoder accleration was enabled. This part of the package does not seem to feature in the 15.7.1 AMD installation, so this could be at the heart of the problem

Cyberlink Powerdirector 12 Tutorial
I am new to this forum and have been using PD8 for some years on a Win7 machine.
I recently added PD12 and all seemed to be working well.
Then I purchased a new PC running the Win10 OS and found that PD12 would not load from my disc showing an error code:1628.
Tech Support confirmed that PD12 was not compatible with Win10 as you have previously stated.
However I did load my old PD8 successfully (from disc) and have now managed to download PD12 from the Cyberlink website and that to seems to be working OK now albeit I seem to be getting the 'green-screen' thing going on.
Can someone shed some light on the whys and wherefores of this issue and are the Tech Guys just following a marketing policy? Thanks for any help offered.
Need some clarification here. Did you mean you successfully installed both PD8 and PD12 in your new win 10 pc?
If they are both installed on your win 10 pc and you mean that you get the green preview screen then I already answered that in a different post earlier. Go the preferences/hardware acceleration and uncheck enable hardware decoding. That fixed it on PD12 on a pc running win 10.
Let us know if this fixes the problem on your pc. Antworten
Sorry, I am new to this thread and haven't read all the posts.
I did manage to load both PD8 & 12 to my new Win10 PC.
PD8 from disc and PD12 from a Cyberlink download (the disc would not load).
Your fix seems to have worked perfectly on my first test video.
Thanks you very much, I appreciate the help.
Best regards,
Chris Thanks for any help offered.

I upgraded from 8.1 to 10 in July and there were no issues with PD. I also have PD14 running now, so 12-14 are good on Win10

Going from 7 to 10 shouldn't be a problem for you. It's possible you'll need some new drivers and you might need to reinstall a couple of programs, but almost everything is done automatically.

As with any chosen upgrade you need to learn to navigate those tiles or use the classic desktop. This has nothing to do with powerdirector. Try this: Touch the windows key and type cyber and hit the enter key and you'll find it.
Let us know if this helps.
